Fix Instagram Filters Not Loading

Are your Instagram filters not working?

Filters are one of the reasons why Instagram became so popular since its launch. Filters allow us to get more creative and have fun with our photos and videos. If your filter is not loading, it can affect your overall experience on the platform.

Fret not because we are here to help. Below we’ll walk you through some of the easy steps to fix your Instagram filter when it’s not working.

Before we begin, make sure you have a stable internet connection. Instagram is an online platform, so of course, you need to be connected to the internet for you to use its features. All set? Let’s proceed.

Fix Instagram Filter

1. Restart The Instagram App

Restarting the Instagram App is an easy way to fix temporary glitches.
For Android users, follow these steps to close the app.

  • Go to Settings, then click “Apps”
  • Scroll down to see the “Instagram” app, and click on it
  • Tap on the “Force Close” button at the top of the screen.

For iPhone users, here’s how you can force close the Instagram app.

If you are using older versions of the iPhone, press the home button twice to open the windows. Find the Instagram app and swipe up to close.

For newer iPhones, place the finger down at the center bottom of the screen and scroll up to get to the windows. Find the Instagram app and swipe up to close.

2. Clear Cache

You need to clean up Instagram’s cache from time to time to prevent problems. Having too much cache stored in your device can cause any app to fail. To clear cache for android users, go to the

Settings > Apps > Manage Apps

Scroll down to find the “Instagram” app, then tap on “Clear Cache” or “Clear Data” to wipe the stored cache in your phone.

3. Uninstall and Reinstall Instagram App

iPhone users do not have the clear cache option. You can “Offload Data”, but this only removes the app on your phone and keeps all the data, including cached files.

But since our goal is to clear the cache, the much better option is to uninstall and reinstall the app. This option is also applicable to Android users if clearing the cache does not solve the problems. Follow these steps to uninstall and reinstall the Instagram app.

For Android users, you can hold down on the app and a menu will appear above it. Click on “uninstall” and wait until the app disappears.

Go to the Play Store, search for the “Instagram” app, and click “Install” to download the app again on your phone.

Install Instagram App

For iPhone users, press and hold down the Instagram app on the screen until it wobbles. An “X” mark will appear. Press on the “X” and the app will uninstall.

Now it’s time to reinstall the app. Go to the App Store, search for the “Instagram” app, and click “Install”. Once reinstalled, your “Instagram” app should be working fine, including the filters.

4. Keep Your Instagram App Updated

Instagram is constantly rolling out updates to fix bugs and let you use its new features smoothly. It is best to keep your app updated to prevent breakdowns and problems. Check if there are new updates available from time to time.

Go to the App Store (iPhone users) or Play Store (Android users), search for the “Instagram” app and click on it. If there is an existing update you need to download, you will see an “Update” button right next to the app logo. If your app is up to date, you will see an “Open” button instead.
